Don’t mention the emergency? [BOOKLET + FLYER]

I just came across the following 24-page brochure which I found excellent in terms of condensing current science regarding the climate crisis into messages and actions, while firmly based on  psychology (esp. social, behavioral and clinical psychology) with statements well-referenced in the (scientific) literature. Some highlights:

According to Professor of Psychology Noam Shpancer:
“Human beings are herd animals. We survive only in highly coordinated groups. Individually, we are designed to pick up social cues, coordinate and align our behaviour with those
around us. Recent research has shown that social disapproval provokes the brain’s danger circuits. Conformity soothes.”
According to Professor Kevin Anderson:
“A 4°C future is incompatible with an organised global community, is likely to be beyond ‘adaptation’, is devastating to the majority of ecosystems, and has
a high probability of not being stable.” … “If you have got a population of nine billion by 2050 and you hit 4°C, 5°C or 6°C, you might have half a billion people surviving.”
“A fast transition to zero emissions is possible. As well as describing a shift in state of mind, the solutions part of the climate emergency message must capture the speed and scale of change
required. The Climate Mobilization calls for people to pledge support for a World War II-scale climate mobilisation.”

Well done, Jane! 🙂

Note: To distribute the booklet at protests and use resources effectively,  recommend to distribute the flyer/paper slip that Jane Morton shared with me (I just fixed some layout issues and added a short link in her template, but not change the content). The flyer can easily and cheaply printed (at home), while printing of the complete 32-page, A4, multi-color booklet costs about 6800SEK (about 680EUR) for 100 copies.
