Pastebins – Quickly creating minimalist websites for sharing text-based information [A Review]

1. Introduction

After entering the world of internet relay chats (IRC), where text messages are supposed to be short, sharing longer pieces of text via so called “pastebin” sites has become relevant to me. In the following I am evaluating and recommending some “pastebin” services from a comprehensive list of websites [1].

2. Criteria

  • Professional branding (e.g. no references to hacking culture, suspicious ads)
  • Simple user interface (e.g. no ads, no info spamming)
  • No registration
  • Privacy
    • pastes are not listed on website
    • pastes are not searchable by search engines
    • pastes are encrypted and have random-sequence links, ie info only available to users with link
  • Short URL
  • Optional: variable time limit, burn after reading

3. Eligible web sites

4. Recommended web site
